Gut health advocate and low FODMAP dietitian

Ana Diaz

Hello, I’m Ana Díaz, a passionate dietitian with a specialization in the Low FODMAP diet and a holistic approach to gut health.

My journey toward becoming a dietitian and gut health advocate started with my own personal battle with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Diagnosed at 28 while living a high-stress life in London, I experienced firsthand the frustrating, often painful symptoms that digestive issues bring.

Today, I use my expertise and personal experience to help others transform their gut health and regain control of their lives.

a 360º approach to
gut health

What makes my approach to the Low FODMAP diet unique is my focus on a comprehensive, 360-degree view of gut health. I believe that diet is only one part of the puzzle when it comes to improving your digestive system. Through my own journey and professional training, I’ve seen the importance of supporting your gut health in multiple ways:

gut microbiome

Understanding and nurturing the gut microbiome is key to long-term digestive health. I focus on creating balance in the gut by not only eliminating problematic foods but also introducing foods and habits that nourish beneficial bacteria.

stress management

As someone who has personally dealt with the impact of stress on gut health, I know how crucial it is to manage stress effectively. Stress can disrupt the delicate balance of the gut microbiome and exacerbate IBS symptoms. I incorporate stress-reducing techniques into my practice to help clients achieve better results.

exercise and sleep

Gut health isn’t just about what you eat. Regular exercise and quality sleep are critical components of a healthy digestive system. I’m a big believer in maintaining an active lifestyle and making sure your body gets the rest it needs to repair and function optimally.

My Passion for Healthy Eating and Experimenting in the Kitchen

One of my greatest joys is experimenting with new recipes, ingredients, and flavors. I love creating meals that are not only delicious but also nourish the body and support gut health. I’ve spent countless hours in the kitchen perfecting Low FODMAP recipes that are easy to make, satisfying, and most importantly, won’t trigger IBS symptoms.

I know that following a specialized diet can feel restrictive, but it doesn’t have to be boring or difficult. Through my blog, book, and consultations, I aim to show people that eating for gut health can be enjoyable and accessible, even for those with busy lives.

My Journey from Architect to Dietitian

Before I became a dietitian, I worked as an architect in London. While I had always been interested in health and wellness, focusing on my diet and overall well-being took a backseat as I navigated the demands of a fast-paced, high-stress career. Long hours and constant stress eventually led to a turning point when I was diagnosed with IBS. This diagnosis opened my eyes to the importance of gut health and the need for a tailored approach to diet and lifestyle.

Like many others, the COVID-19 pandemic gave me the opportunity to pause and re-evaluate my priorities. I decided to leave my career as an architect and fully commit to my passion for nutrition, health, and well-being. This was when I began my formal education as a dietitian, choosing to specialize in the Low FODMAP diet and gut microbiome health.

Sports, Nature, and Finding Balance

Aside from my passion for nutrition and gut health, I’m an avid sports lover. Whether it’s yoga, cycling, climbing, hiking, dancing, or tennis (my absolute favorite!), staying active is a huge part of my life. I believe that movement not only helps to maintain physical health but also plays a huge role in reducing stress and keeping the gut functioning properly.

I’m also deeply connected to nature. Growing up in Tenerife, I was fortunate to be surrounded by natural beauty, and this love of the outdoors has stayed with me throughout my life. I’ve lived in Seville, London, Hong Kong, and Italy, and wherever I go, I seek out time in nature to relax, recharge, and stay grounded.

From Architect to Mom: Embracing New Roles

In addition to being a dietitian and a wellness enthusiast, I’m also a proud mom to a beautiful and funny little boy. Motherhood has added a new dimension to my life, and it has further fueled my passion for health and well-being. I want to lead by example for my son, showing him the importance of taking care of our bodies, eating nourishing foods, staying active, and finding balance in life.

Becoming a mother has also made me even more aware of the need for practical, easy-to-follow nutrition advice that works for busy people. I understand how hard it can be to juggle everything, and that’s why I’m committed to providing simple, actionable steps to help others improve their gut health without feeling overwhelmed.
